ColumbiaSoft introduces affordable subscription model for its document management software

Starting today, Document Locator software comes in purchase, subscription, on premise, and cloud-hosted options.

Portland, Ore. – April 09, 2015 - ColumbiaSoft announced today that it is making its enterprise document management software, Document Locator, available by subscription as well as offering the traditional purchase option. The software can be hosted on site, or in the cloud.

“Subscription offers an easy and affordable way to invest in document management, while avoiding the up-front costs of purchasing software,” said ColumbiaSoft President Richard Day. “Our customers now have the most flexible options to use our document management software which helps them take control of document-driven business processes in their company. Document Locator is already well known for its ease of use and unique integration with Microsoft Windows. Now, the software will be more affordable to a wider array of businesses, regardless of their size or their budget.”

Document Locator has long been available for purchase in several different forms of licenses, including named user licenses, dedicated licenses, concurrent licenses, and Web licenses. Traditionally, companies purchasing software have also bought annual maintenance and support.

Today’s announcement means ColumbiaSoft will complement its existing pricing arrangement with one that offers the software at a much lower cost through subscription based payments. In the subscription model, the software as well as the maintenance and support are bundled into a single yearly price. For example, a single user license that costs $495 to purchase plus $99 a year in annual maintenance and support, can now be had in a yearly plan for as little as $180, or the equivalent of $15 a month.

Hosting options are also available, allowing businesses to choose between having Document Locator installed on site at their company, or hosted in the cloud.
