Latest Document Locator release builds on proven platform for document management software

ColumbiaSoft releases Document Locator version 6.1 with performance enhancements and new technology for document archiving.

Portland, Ore. – January 31, 2012 - Building on what has become the most successful series of releases yet for the Document Locator document management system, ColumbiaSoft today announced availability of its latest version update – Document Locator 6.1. The new release has performance improvements as well as new PDF technology for archiving documents.

In version 6.1, core file actions such as check-in/check-out, copy-and-paste, update profile, get latest version, and more, have been optimized for improved performance in virtual private networks (VPN) and wide area networks (WAN). These same enhancements also improve performance when using the system’s Web browser interface. Benchmark testing shows a 37% average improvement in speed across certain operations.

New PDF technology also included in the latest version allows users to create PDF/A format files. The PDF/A file type is the ISO-standard version of the Portable Document Format (PDF) used for digital preservation and document archiving. Additionally, the new PDF technology is now more easily deployed in virtual server environments like Citrix or Windows Terminal Services.

The latest updates add to an expanse of document management capabilities already incorporated in earlier versions of the Document Locator 6 platform. These include built-in document workflow, Microsoft Outlook integration, reporting, as well as integration with Microsoft Windows 7 and Office 2010.
