Document Locator System Requirements
For successful installation and use of Document Locator, your technology should meet the minimum recommended system requirements below. Additional RAM and faster processor speed will provide greater performance. Contact ColumbiaSoft technical support directly to help ensure that your configuration will meet your performance requirements. Because many variables influence system performance, ColumbiaSoft will make best efforts to advise customers, but is not responsible for insuring adequate system hardware and software configurations.
Document Locator client
- Administrator rights to install software
- Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2, or Windows Vista required
- 32-bit OS environment supported
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or newer required
- Pentium 4 or higher processor required
- 512 Megabytes of RAM or greater recommended (1024 Megabytes for Vista)
- Network speed: 100/1000 base-T
- Super VGA monitor (screen resolution set to at least 800 x 600, small fonts)
- 128 Megabyte Video RAM for Vista
Client Disk Space requirements:
- CD installation: 75 MB before installation and 40 MB after the install is complete
- Web Download: 100 MB before installation and 40 MB after the install is complete
Document Locator Database Server
- Administrator rights to install software
- Dedicated Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP4 (120 day eval of SQL Server); or dedicated 32-bit Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (180 day eval of SQL Server) required
- Requires 32-bit Microsoft SQL Server; 32-bit SQL Server running in 64-bit Windows Server OS environment is supported and may be advised for large installations
- Dedicated Windows 2000 Server SP4; or dedicated Windows 2003 Server required (64-bit Windows Server OS is supported)
- Dedicated multiple-core CPU required (multiple processor and multiple-core CPU hardware server recommended for larger installations)
- 4 Gigabytes or greater of RAM dedicated to SQL Server recommended (see Server Configuration tool for more details)
- For very large repositories, Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Server is recommended
- Network speed: Gigabit or 1000 base-T is strongly recommended
- Super VGA monitor (screen resolution set to at least 800 x 600, small fonts)
- Microsoft Small Business Server and other non-dedicated application servers or multiple virtualized servers and non-standard configurations are not supported without ColumbiaSoft Engineering's review & approval. Virtual server environments must dedicate sufficient memory and CPU resources to SQL Server as noted above. Installation may require re-boot of server.
Server Disk Space required:
- SCSI or SAS technology
- The initial Document Locator database requires 40 MB
- Default file growth is set for 10% incremental increases as required
- For very large repositories, SQL Server should be optimized for performance
Scanning Station Requirements
- Administrator rights to install software
- Windows 2000 SP4; Windows XP with SP2; or Vista required
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or newer
- Pentium 4 or higher (2GHz or higher recommended)
- 1 Gigabyte of RAM or greater recommended
- 128 Megabyte Video RAM for Vista
- Network speed: 100/1000 base-T
