Another alternative is to publish documents to remote users via the Document Locator Web Tools add-on product.

How would having multiple repositories be helpful?

By creating additional Document Locator repositories, users have the ability to run departmental, business-unit level or even personal repositories. This allows users to centralize a group's documents, making them easier to find, control and manage. Users can then access the different repositories through Document Locator's console based on their security rights. Document Locator supports across repository moves through either drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste.

Can I run Document Locator on a PC using a Unix-based operating system?

We currently do not have direct support for Unix, Linux or Mac OS clients. However, these various OS clients can run the "Microsoft Terminal Services" component on their machine to connect to a "Terminal Server" that has Document Locator installed on it.

There are two ways to send files via Microsoft Outlook email: as attachments or as links. Attachments attach the file to the email message. Links, on the other hand, will allow the recipient to manipulate the document directly within Document Locator. A user may choose to view the document or check it out to work on it directly, without going through the Document Locator application. In order for the links feature  to work, the recipient must be a authorized member of the Document Locator system and also have a connection to the repository.
