Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company selects ColumbiaSoft’s Document Locator for Affordable Electronic Document Management


Burns & McDonnell will manage engineering documents across the enterprise.

Kansas City, Missouri, Burns & McDonnell selects Document Locator – ColumbiaSoft Corporation announced today that Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company has joined the growing list of customers using Document Locator. Burns & McDonnell (“Burns & Mac”) is an engineering, construction, environmental, and consulting solutions firm with offices worldwide and more than 1,900 employee-owners. Burns & Mac’s management and IT department selected Document Locator for its ease of use, affordable total cost of ownership, and ability to capture, manage, view, and share engineering documents both internally and externally as part of project lifecycles.

Based on results to-date, Document Locator is expected to significantly improve the productivity, security, and accuracy of the project design-build cycle. Employees at all 16 permanent offices as well as construction sites around the world will be able to collaborate on engineering designs while Document Locator enforces versioning to ensure design change correctness. At project sites, employees will have instant access to engineering documents by using Document Locator Web Tools. Additionally, Burns & Mac’s clients, contractors and vendors will participate in project design cycles by exchanging engineering drawings through a partner portal implemented around Document Locator Web Tools. Document Locator security and workflow will be used to ensure that the proper design, review, and approval cycles have been followed.
